The iPhone 12 Benchmark Scores Are ‘Unimpressive’ — Should You Still Buy It?

Can the iPhone 12 can go toe-to-toe with the best Android devices at present?

No thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic, Apple had to debut the latest iteration of its famous smartphone with less than the regular fanfare and hoopla. The company managed to stage a physical event with limited attendants and somewhat muted coverage.

Unfortunately, one of the subsequent media releases about the latest iPhone has not been that flattering. The previously unbeatable benchmark leader suddenly found itself not topping the test results.

‘Unimpressive’ benchmark scores

As reported on Forbes, Antutu benchmark test results leaked by Ice Universe for the iPhone 12 line showed a marginal bump. Based on a tip from serial leaker Ice Universe, the iPhone 12 Pro Max registered an Antutu score of 572,333, which is not too distant from the 524,436 score of IPhone 11 Pro Max. The memory, GPU, and CPU tests similarly showed minimal iPhone 12 v iPhone 11 increases at 100,808:82,712, 222,071:214,457, and 167,527:143,546 respectively.

Interestingly, the leaked Antutu user experience score for the iPhone 12 Pro Max turned out to be a step-down. It dropped by around 2 percent…
